Minimally Invasive Percutaneous Nephrolitholapaxy (MIP)

This video was prepared by Dr. Med. U. Nagele and Prof. A. Stenzl, of the Department of Urology, Eberhard-Karls University, Tübingen (Germany). The MIP approach was developed to help reduce morbidity associated with percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) procedures while improving the effectiveness of stone removal using mini-PCNL. The video describes the mini-instruments used in the MIP approach to reduce trauma, as well as related systems and equipment. Preparation of the patient is outlined and details of the procedure are described, followed by an overview of post-operative care. The video concludes with a discussion of results of 89 patients who underwent MIP procedures.
