How to use and operate your AIDA, beginning to end
The Aida Bella is the latest in image and video capture technology from Carl Stewart's. This highly flexible system is capable of recording every detail of your surgery in four K quality as well as exporting those recordings to a destination of your choice, such as a pack system or carl Stewart's content management solution stream connect the Aida Bella can be used on equipment carts or an integrated operating rooms, but the operating instructions remain the same no matter the location. Let's take a look at how to operate the unit from the exterior of the unit. You will see that it is comprised of two modules, the Aida itself and a retractable 12.5 inch touch panel called the smart screen. Turn on the unit with the rocker toggle switch on the front left of the unit. If the green light is visible then your unit is powered on. Once you have turned on the unit gently pushed the smart screen to release it from its locked position. Likewise, this can be pushed back in for storage during transport. At the start of a case, you will want to enter the patient's information so that it's documented for the recording from the capture screen select patient on the bottom toolbar. Certain fields are outlined in orange to indicate that these are mandatory. This can be modified in the settings to fit the requirements of the facility to the right of the surgeon field, you will see an ellipsis button. This will initiate a drop down menu where you can select previously entered surgeons alternate. If connected through the stream, connect program you can utilize the imported work list function which will pull up a list of today's patients to choose from. After selecting the correct patient, it will automatically populate all the fields. Once all required fields are entered and confirmed you are ready to move on and select your desired print settings. At the top of the menu, you will see a printer icon touching this icon will pull up a quick menu to modify the print settings for this case. This will allow you to choose how many images per page as well as how many copies you would like printed. This can be modified up until the first images taken. The settings will revert to the standard layout. After each case is finished. Once you have entered patient information and selected your desired print layout, select the capture tab from the toolbar. From the capture screen you will see a live preview of the incoming video source. For example, the endoscopic camera. Please ensure that a live image is visible before you proceed. If the preview window is black, you may need to check your video connections directly beneath the preview window. You will see two buttons. The camera button will take the still image and the video button will start and stop recording video. These buttons can be activated from the smart screen. In addition to the programmable buttons located on the endoscopic camera head on the right side of the screen. You will see two columns. The column on the left shows thumbnails of recorded images while the column on the right shows thumbnails of recorded videos at the top of each column. You will also see the number of captures for each respective field. After the still images and videos are taken, you can select the edit tab on the lower toolbar. This brings you into a window that shows a larger format of the thumbnails from the capture screen separated into two columns. You will find still images on the left and videos on the right, selecting a media, thumbnail illuminates the view and annotate button on the bottom left and after selecting that you are brought to a large screen where you can view the image or video and make notes to better identify the images for later review. Once the procedure has ended, you can select the finished tab on the bottom toolbar. A notification will pop up if you have not completed the required patient information fields and allow you to enter the information. Now, once on the finished page you will see multiple rows near the top showing possible export destinations. The media will inherently save to the internal local drive. Additionally, you can add or remove mandatory or optional destinations in the settings. This would include USB dycom and stream connect as well as many others below the destination list. You will find the print templates again, you can make certain formats and configurations mandatory or optional in the settings menu. If there is an optional print function enabled, you can modify it here to suit your needs. You can change the number of copies and images per page as well as layout. Once you've made your selections from the available options, press save at the bottom of the page, a dialog box will pop up on the screen saying export is running indicating that the export of media is running in the background select OK. And the smart screen will return to the capture page. You will notice that all patient specific information as well as previously captured media is no longer present. This indicates that the system is ready to start the next case as the export of the previous case is running in the background. If you are exporting to a U S B, do not remove the USB until the export is complete. You can check on the status of this by selecting the I button at the top of the menu. If you need to pull up images or videos from previous cases, the Aida Bella has you covered. You will find prior cases by selecting the filing cabinet from the top toolbar directly right of the printer icon. Once you have selected the filing cabinet, it will show you all previously performed cases stored on the internal local drive with the most recent on top. To narrow the selection further, you can type in identifying information in the search bar on the top. Once you have located the desired case and selected it, you can press the view button to view the media captured on the left. You will see the still images and on the right videos from here. You can select one or more images. You can select print to force a new print or you can choose to export delete or just close and return to the capture screen. It is important to note that the Aida does not store cases permanently. Once the internal hard drive is full, it will begin deleting the oldest cases to make room for new cases.
